The story behind Casana

Looking for the right app.

Last year my girlfriend and I wanted to spend a weekend at my grandparents' holiday home in Valais. I called to pick a date, but the house was already taken. So we looked for another weekend. While packing, I realised I had no idea whether there was a hair dryer, and I found myself scrolling through old family chats for an answer. Once we arrived, I wondered whether the tap water was drinkable. I called my grandmother, but nobody picked up.

And when we left, my grandparents worried: did we really lock everything? Turn off the power, close the windows?

There are dozens of platforms for renting a holiday home out to strangers. But that was exactly what we didn't want. We just wanted to share our place with family, without it turning into a management project.

So I built Casana, the app I wish I'd had back then.

Casana is a shared calendar and organization hub for families and friends who privately share a place or an object. For example a holiday home, a van, a boat, a trailer, or a party room. Everyone can instantly see who is using it and when, and find all important information for the stay or use in one central place.

Casana is designed for families and small groups of friends who privately share a place or an object. The app is intentionally not built for large property managers, rentals, or commercial use.

Can I use Casana for something other than a holiday home?

Yes. Casana works well for any shared object where clarity is important, such as vans, boats, trailers, cabins, party rooms, or shared leisure spaces. Anywhere a clear calendar, checklists, and essential information are helpful.

How much does Casana cost?

Casana is free to start: one place, up to three members, unlimited stays, and all core features included. Casana Plus unlocks unlimited places and unlimited members. Joining as a guest is always free, and guests can be part of as many places as they want. Only the owner of a place pays. See pricing

In which countries is Casana available?

Casana is available in many countries across Europe, including Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and more, as well as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. If your country isn't listed yet, feel free to reach out at support@casana.app.

On which platforms is Casana available?

Casana is available on both iOS and Android. You can download it from the App Store or Google Play. Invitations are fully cross-platform, someone on iPhone can invite and share a place with someone on Android, and everything stays in sync regardless of which device guests use.

Do guests need a Casana account to join?

Yes. Guests need to download Casana and create a free account to accept an invite and access the shared place. The free plan is enough to join, there is no cost for guests.

Who can see my data?

Only people you explicitly invite to a place can access its content. Casana is designed for private use, there are no public profiles, no rentals, no advertising, and no data sharing with third parties.
